About The Faculty

Steven Sandberg-Lewis, ND, DHANP, has been in continuous practice since graduating from NCNM in 1978. Now a professor at NCNM, he has taught GI physiology, psychophysiology, GI pathology and gastroenterology since 1996. Student clinicians at the NCNM Natural Health Center benefit from his supervision with his focus on diet; myofascial, visceral and spinal manipulation; functional analysis and mindbody clearing techniques.





Gene Bowman, ND is a 2004 graduate of the National College of Natural Medicine. Dr. Bowman received a Helfgott Research Institute fellowship to study the implications of gastric acid abnormalities. Presently Dr. Bowman holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Instructor of Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University where he is a graduate student in the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. He is also an adjunct faculty at Helfgott Research Institute of National College of Natural Medicine and serves as a clinical preceptor at the Natural Health Center of NCNM to naturopathic medical students and residents.



Kayle Sandberg-Lewis, LMT, MA, has a private practice in stress management and biofeedback, specializing in traumatic brain injury. She teaches applied psychophysiology at NCNM and, along with Steven Sandberg-Lewis, co-supervises a "PsyPhy" shift at NCNM's Natural Health Center. She is a frequent presenter at Neurofeedback and Psychophysiology conferences.





Keivan Jinnah, ND, MSOM, LAc. received both his Naturopathic doctorate and his Masters in the Science of Oriental Medicine from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1998. He has lectured and written extensively on the natural treatment of hepatitis C and chronic liver disease. Dr. Jinnah is an adjunct professor at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine where he teaches "The Liver - In Health and Disease". He is a member of the Oregon State Viral Hepatitis Planning Group and he sits on the medical advisory board of the national publication "Liver Health Today". Dr. Jinnah has a private practice in Portland Oregon and works with a synthesis of naturopathic and Chinese therapeutics to restore and optimize health. He lives in Portland with his wife and two children.
